Recognizing that something must be done, there are ongoing efforts in both Congress and the states to bring about real legislative change. Below, you will find a link to legislation that is pending both in the U.S. Senate and House, as well as various proposals that are pending in the states. Please check back often for updates on these pending legislations.
In addition, Stop Child Predators has drafted "Model State Legislation" that we hope will serve as a starting point for states that have not yet begun to draft their own legislation. Currently undergoing revisions, this Model Legislation was introduced before the American Legislative Exchange Council's (ALEC) meeting in August and is pending endorsement by ALEC at its December meeting. We encourage concerned citizens, legislators, and others to bring this proposal to the attention of others so that we can expeditiously bring about needed changes in our criminal laws.
Stop Child Predators is pleased to bring together law enforcement organizations, community groups, and victims' rights advocates who all share the common goal of stopping sexual offenders from preying on our children. > Find out more about our partners.
